Ms. Pyle's kindergarteners have started preliminary sketches of animals. We're not sure if we'll make the animals out of leaves or paper. The drawings are amazing for kindergarten!
Research!
Mrs. Shellenberger's class has started a research project on insects. We did some preliminary sketching. Next week we'll start paper collages.

Picasso's drawing of Igor Stravinsky
Mr. Valentine's class
Would you be brave enough to draw a picture upside down, little by little and not know what you were drawing?
It was hard but these students did a fantastic job!

Jamestown
Mrs. Bolton's class started work drawing the Jamestown fort which they are going to visit soon. We thought it might be interesting to see if they can pull it up on their laptops and continue work in their classroom.
They are loving this drawing and they already know so much about it.

Lines, Lines, Lines
Mrs. Frazier's class watercolored their line drawings.
The lines in the pictures and words we hope they know are diagonal, vertical, horizontal, wavy, zigzag, geometric, spiral, curved, thick and thin.
The Hand
4th and 5th graders practiced using colored pencils to make textures.
First we traced our hands and then tried different textures.

Space Printing
We worked on styrofoam printing plates.... anything about space. We painted our paper with watercolors. The students were so excited to print. After examining the prints, we decided how we wanted to display them. I really love these!
Mrs. Butler's Placemats
We glued the placemats together. They'll be laminated and used in the classroom.
Mr. Matt's Blops
Mr. Matt's class found a book that they really liked. They asked if they could add to it.
We've had a lot of fun asking blop questions.

Name Mats
Mrs. Butler's class is making place mats that will have information a first grader might want to know about writing and numbers.
We started with figuring out "b and d"
and "p and g" using their hands.
Lines
Mrs. Frazier's class has been working with lines. We made our lines on watercolor paper this week and next week, we'll paint them with watercolor.
Apples
Ms. Bullock's class knows all about apples. They decided on the facts to add and were very eager to write after they finished drawing.
Recycled Partners
Ms. Ewers' class is working on a portrait of their partner out of recycled materials. The kids are being observant and using what they know about their friends. This should be very interesting.

Ms. Pyle's Pumpkins
sketching and note-taking
Mrs. Shellenberger's weaving
Weaving is fun.
over, under, over, under, over, under
under, over, under, over, under, over
Native Americans wove clothing, baskets, rugs,
belts, shoes and almost everything
out of all kinds of animal and plant products.
We wondered if they learned how to weave from spiders.
3rd grade self-portraits
We've started to plan self-portrait collages. These are the first drawings. They're fantastic! I couldn't decide which to post so you'll see alot. They'll be writing in their journals -- haikus, I think. The first drawings show their interests. This is only the beginning.
