Underwater Sea Creatures

Fifth graders have been studying underwater sea creatures.  After looking at every wonderful and strange creature, we chose one we wanted to paint.  We used watercolor backgrounds and added rock salt to make it look llike underwater.   For the creatures, we used watercolor paint, watercolor crayons and watercolor pencils.  We worked really hard on them.  We then took the facts we had learned and wrote a Tanka.  A tanka is a 5 line poem with a certain number of syllables and many facts.

We next began making our creatures out of clay.

We also made coral reefs and different size circles to be the water.

We been painting them with underglaze.

We can't wait to see how it all comes out!
