Stony Point Dragons

Clay Self-portraits

After 5th graders finished their colored pencil self-portraits, we decided to make  clay ones while it was still fresh in our minds.  They came out as individual as the students are.

We liked making so much, we made small ones.  These were glazed with the same color as our Stony Point dragon's scales and attached together like a mosaic.
We haven't decided where these two panels will go.  They're about 12x22 each.

Sketching

Most projects start with sketching.  It gives us time to think and organize our thoughts.  It's like making a "web" before you start writing.  This kind of sketching is individual.

Sketching is also for note-taking.  It helps our brains process and remember facts.  We also write down important things we want to remember.  this we might do as a whole group.
