Stony Point students in clay

Last year, the 5th graders made clay faces of themselves.
We mounted them onto plywood, grouted and they are finally hanging in the hall!

Zentangles

A zentangle is a doodle, an abstract design on white paper with a black sharp pointed marker.  It has no orientation and is not a recognizable object.  There are no mistakes.  That said, a zentangle design can cross any boundry and we are only limited by our imagination.  This activity is very meditative... the room gets quiet., very quiet.. the kids love it!

One student said, "It's really quiet and you didn't even tell us not to talk."

This is one video we like and we watched it with no sound.....

We made zentangle doodles in 3 " squares and circles... 6 to a page.

4th graders want to continue with this exercise.  There was talk of doing our initials or choosing a recognizable object and maybe even adding some color.  Check back to see what we decide to do.
